Combine Rebates, Save $200 on Energy Efficient Washers

Seattle City Light incentives combined with federal stimulus funding can save you $200 when you trade in your old, clunky washing machine for an new, energy efficient model.

The Washington State Department of Commerce Energy Policy Division is administering $5.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) rebate funds for the Washington State Cash for Appliances Program. Rebates will be paid to Washington residential consumers who purchase eligible clothes washers and refrigerators during the rebate period and recycle their resource-wasting appliance.

The Cash for Appliances rebates for washing machines is $100, which can be combined with a matching rebate from City Light for a $200 savings. Eligible machines are ENERGY STAR® High-efficiency Clothes Washers (Modified Energy Factor (MEF) 2.46 or greater and Water Factor (WF) 4 or less).

The Cash for Appliances program also provides $75 rebates for the purchase of ENERGY STAR® Refrigerators (greater than 9 cubic feet).
