Tran’s first day is June 1.  With more than 20 years of experience in the utility industry, Tran will lead a group of 98 engineers at Seattle City Light working on major capital programs and nine support staff employees.  Most recently Tran managed the Transmission and Distribution System Planning and Operations Group for Tacoma Power. He previously worked at Puget Sound Power and Light Co. as a major projects engineer. He also developed and teaches system power courses at Gonzaga University.

Tran earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Gonzaga and is licensed as a professional engineer.

Seattle City Light is the ninth largest public electric utility in the United States.  It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.  City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
