Seattle City Light launches a redesigned home page for its website www.seattle.gov/light today, Friday, Oct. 22.

The new page adds a customer account login portal for online payments, streamlines content and navigation, and highlights key information identified by customers in focus group testing as their top priorities.

“Our website is a vital link between City Light and our customers,” Superintendent Jorge Carrasco said. “These improvements will make it easier for customers to interact with us and find the information they want when they want it.”  Another feature of the new website design includes an outage map that provides details on City Light’s response to any current power outages.

“It’s also important to recognize that the best websites are constantly evolving,” Carrasco said. “This is just the first step in providing a website that helps us provide the best customer experience of any utility in the nation.”

City Light will offer customers an opportunity to give feedback on the new design.  A quick survey asks customers about ease of use and if they were able to find the information they wanted. Responses will help improve navigation and content.

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States.  It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.  City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
