City Light Feeder Relocation Progressing in Pioneer Square

Seattle City Light is making progress in its work to relocate major power lines in preparation for the planned replacement of the Alaskan Way Viaduct.

Seattle City Light is making progress in its efforts to relocate five major power lines off the Alaskan Way Viaduct and replace them with new ones.

The new feeders will be placed in concrete duct banks in southbound 1st Avenue South between Cherry and South Jackson streets in Pioneer Square. The feeders must come off the AWV in preparation for the viaduct replacement program.

Work is progressing block-by-block.  The current focus is between S. Main and S. Jackson streets.  This past weekend crews set a vault at the intersection of S. Main Street and 1st Avenue S.  Detours are in place to move traffic around the block and back onto 1st Avenue S.  Project updates and details can be found here.
