Entries are now being accepted for Seattle City Light’s Monsters in the Basement video contest.
The contest is designed to show how old refrigerators and freezers gobble up three to four times the energy of a new Energy Star appliance, costing you as much as $140 extra each year along the way. You can slay that monster with help from Seattle City Light and JACO Environmental. Call 1-877-577-0510 or visit JACO online here to schedule a pickup. We’ll collect your old fridge or freezer, haul it away for free, recycle it and give you a $30 rebate.
So get your video camera out and show us the energy monster in your basement, garage or wherever else it might be lurking and what you can do about it with our help. CREATIVITY COUNTS!!!!
Entries will be accepted until Oct. 10. Everyone who enters will receive a free compact fluorescent light bulb. Voting will determine our 10 finalists, so encourage all your friends and family to support your awesome video. A panel of judges at City Light will then pick the three top prize winners and announce them on Halloween.
First prize is a $500 Visa gift card from JACO Environmental and an iPod Shuffle from City Light.
Second prize is a Power Cost Monitor WiFi Bundle with People Power 1.0 application from Blue Line Innovations and an iPod Shuffle from City Light.
Third prize is an iPod Shuffle and a prize pack of energy conservation goodies from Seattle City Light.
