Seattle City Light employees gave generously on Valentine’s Day to Project Share and other energy-assistance programs at the annual Warm Hearts, Warm Homes fund-raising event. City Light employees donated more than $3,500 on Feb. 14 and the funds will go directly to customers in need.

Project Share is an interest-bearing fund sustained by Seattle City Light customer donations and used to assist income-eligible households that are having problems paying their electricity bill. Since 1985, Project Share has distributed more than $7 million dollars, helping more than 30,000 people. In 2011 alone, the program helped 785 customers and raised a total of more than $345,000.

City Light customers can support Project Share in several ways – by rounding up their utility bill, through on-going donations or by designating a one-time donation. To donate to Project Share or for more information, click here.
