Seattle City Light repair crews working on a power outage in Lake Forest Park caused by a fallen tree expect to complete their work, which will restore service to all customers and reopen Bothell Way (State Route 522) about 3:30 p.m.

The large tree came down late Wednesday night, damaging two utility poles and a transformer, taking down the power lines and blocking the roadway.

About 7,500 customers were without power at the peak of the outage. Crews routed power around the damaged area, reducing the number of affected homes and businesses to about 1,000 early Thursday morning. Crews expect most of those customers to be back in service about noon.

All lanes of Bothell Way will be closed throughout restoration work. Drivers must take alternate routes.

Crews had hoped to open at least one lane of Bothell Way sooner, but cable TV and phone lines that cross the road are currently hanging too low to allow traffic to pass safely. Crews from each of the affected companies are on scene ready to raise those lines as soon as City Light completes its repairs.
