“2012 was a standout year for Seattle City Light,” General Manager and CEO Jorge Carrasco said. “The Strategic Plan is a blueprint for continuing our commitment to customers. It gives data-based guidance to policy makers, and it prescribes a series of investments, efficiencies, and actions that lay a solid foundation for the next six years. It is our guide for the future.”

The Strategic Plan, which was approved by the Seattle City Council, identifies four critical objectives for the utility to focus on:

  • Improving the customer experience and rate predictability
  • Increasing workforce performance and safety practices
  • Enhancing organizational performance
  • Continuing conservation and environmental leadership

“The 2012 Annual Report is an integral part of the implementation process for the Strategic Plan,” Carrasco said. “It tells the story of our progress and demonstrates our commitment to the plan and, most important, our customers.”

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States.  It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.  City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
