Seattle City Light Saves Customers $4.6 Million with Efficiency Program

Seattle City Light announced today that its home energy reports program has saved customers $4.6 million on their energy bills since the program started in 2009. Seattle City Light customers have also saved over 50 million kilowatt-hours through this program, enough energy to take nearly 5,000 homes in Seattle off the grid for a year.

City Light System Reliability Work Will Impact Traffic on Highway 99

City Light will be enhancing electrical system reliability by upgrading the communication link between two south end substations and the utility’s system control center. The work requires pulling fiber optic communications cable across State Route 99 (SR 99) near Boeing Field (see the map with construction zone on the back side). The work is being done in coordination with Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and City Light’s H-Frame/Feeder installation project currently underway in the same area.

Keeping the Lights ON in the View Ridge Neighborhood — Public Meeting to Discuss Electric Service Reliability Improvement Project

Seattle City Light crews will begin work Oct. 13 to upgrade the underground electrical system in a southern section of the View Ridge neighborhood in order to improve the system’s reliability and better serve customers. The boundaries for the project are approximately: NE 65th Street on the north, NE 55th Street on the south, 33rd Avenue NE on the east, and 45th Avenue NE on the west. The project is projected to last through April 2015, and will employ methods that both mitigate cost and minimize disruption to the surrounding neighborhood.
