Seattle City Light has partnered with Communities in Schools of Seattle (CIS Seattle) for the 2015 “Stuff the Bus” campaign, which helps more than 9,500 low-income students in the Seattle School District head back to school with needed supplies.

City Light employees and customers have donated backpacks, pencils, and other supplies to help students start the school year on a good note. The donations were then stuffed into a bright yellow school bus, driven by CIS Seattle volunteers.

Communities in Schools of Seattle collaborate with community partners each year to collect basic school supplies. At the end of the summer, thousands of supplies are given directly to Seattle Public Schools to distribute to low-income students. By providing these basic needs at the start of each school year, the campaign effectively eliminates a significant barrier that keeps students from staying in school and achieving a successful future.
