Downtown Seattle Power Outage Cause Is Still Under Investigation

Seattle City Light is continuing to investigate the cause of the power outage that impacted a large part of Downtown Seattle customers on Wednesday, May 25. Overall, 12,000 meters went out fromĀ 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the day of the outage.

The outage occurred at the Massachusetts Substation and Union Substation, which serve Downtown Seattle. Crews were able to restore power to the Massachusetts Substation by approximately 12:10 p.m. and the Union Substation by 12:30 p.m.

More information will be shared once the outage investigation is complete.
