The days are getting shorter, the air is a little cooler and it is the perfect time to plant trees in the Seattle. Join Seattle City Light and the Fauntleroy community in planting 20 street trees in this vibrant neighborhood Nov. 2.
The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Westside School, 7740 34th Avenue SW, and runs until 1 p.m., rain or shine.
Volunteers will join Seattle City Light staff and representatives from local area businesses, churches and community organizations. All are welcome, those under 18 with a parent or guardian. Gloves and tools will be provided for volunteers along with coffee and refreshments.
Tree species have been carefully selected for low maintenance and a maximum height of about 25 feet, meaning they won’t pose problems for overhead power lines.
Supporting Seattle’s urban forest is another example of why City Light is the nation’s greenest utility.
