The facts are simple: we’re behind on tackling climate change and Washington is already facing real economic impacts. With concerted action on climate, we have a huge opportunity to safeguard our children’s future while staying economically competitive. We all have an interest in helping educate Washingtonians about the need for action on climate change and finding agreement about the best path forward.
Check out the Washington Business Climate Declaration website to see who else has signed, and help spread the word. Any company doing business in Washington is encouraged to join us!
Why did we do it? Our customers, employees and business partners recognize what a special place Washington is, and they value working with a company that will fight to protect and improve it. While our companies look for ways to improve our own carbon footprint, we also look to decision-makers for broad policy action that can build a better future for Washington.
The declaration states:
“There is a clear and present need for action on climate change to protect our region’s natural assets, its vibrant communities and its growing economy. We business leaders of the Pacific Northwest endorse the Climate Declaration because we support using energy efficiently, investing in cleaner fuels, advancing renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
The Washington Business Climate Declaration is a companion to the nationwide Climate Declaration, which currently has more than 1,000 signatories nationwide. See the nationwide list here.
It’s time to make the economic case for tackling climate change. We are proud to do business in a state that is committed to taking action on this defining issue, and to stand with businesses across the state and nation that feel the same.
