More than 50,000 Seattle City Light customers are saving themselves money and reducing their use of paper by receiving and paying their utility bills electronically.
City Light and Seattle Public Utilities started offering eBilling in 2008 and the service continues to grow, adding more than 13,000 new customers already this year.
Participants can view and pay their utility bills online, eliminating the need to print a paper bill or spend 44 cents on a stamp to mail in a payment.
Thanks to their participation, City Light is printing 348,000 fewer bills each year. That saves the utility about $195,000 annually, which helps City Light offer some of the lowest electricity rates in the nation.
