Pawel Krupa has been appointed to the position of System Operations Director, Superintendent Jorge Carrasco announced. Pawel earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Gdansk (Poland) University of Technology in 1981 and has 21 years of experience at City Light.
During his career, he has been active in addressing regional generation and transmission issues in the Pacific Northwest. He has most recently served as Interim System Operators Director since December 2011 and has been successful in demonstrating his knowledge and skills in managing the System Operations Division during this assignment.
Krupa’s City Light experience includes: Substation Operator, Distribution Dispatcher, Generation and Transmission Dispatcher and most recently Chief Dispatcher for Generation and Transmission Operations, as well as a North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Certified System Operator since 2004. He is a member of two regional committees in the Pacific Northwest where he serves as City Light’s representative. This service includes five years on the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) Operating Committee and seven years on the Northwest Power Pool (NWPP) Operating Committee where he currently serves as NWPP Operating Committee Chair.
Krupa volunteers for the Polish Community of Seattle and serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Polish Home Association.
