Seattle City Light crews have restored power to about half of the 3,500 customers affected by an outage in the First Hill and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. Full restoration of service is estimated at 3:30 p.m.
The outage was first reported at 8:00 a.m. Crews found a wire down near 16th Avenue and Thomas Street.
The general boundaries of the outage area were: East Mercer Street on the north; East Spring Street on the south; from I-5 on the west to 22nd Avenue East on the east.
Seattle City Light is the ninth largest public electric utility in the United States. It has the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
