A garbage truck that hit a tree, knocking the tree into power lines about 2:30 p.m. was responsible for a power outage in the Alki area of West Seattle.
About 2,800 homes and businesses were initially without power. The original boundaries were Alki Avenue SW on the north; SW Holly Street on the south; 31st Ave SW on the east and Puget Sound on the west.
Repair crews isolated the damage about 4 p.m., restoring service for all but 560 customers. Full restoration for all customers was expected by 6:30 p.m.
