We recently participated in the Seattle 2030 District’s Energy Week from June 2 through June 6. This educational event explored ways to use energy more efficiently, reduce emissions, and promote renewable energy. Through panels, hands-on activities, and educational talks, we shared our commitment to creating sustainable energy solutions for our region.
A spotlight on efficient electrification and lighting innovation

Efficient building electrification panel
On June 3, we hosted the “Optimizing Efficient Electrification” panel at the Smart Buildings Center. Our team and a colleague from the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, Duane Jonlin, discussed the following:
- How we’re preparing to support our area with the City’s current climate commitments. Making external policy, energy codes, and other requirements accessible and our support available.
- How we’re getting the grid ready. Preparing the power grid for more electric-powered technology and higher energy demand in the future.
- How we’re making service connections easy. Making it simple to integrate customers’ electric service needs into existing infrastructure.
- How we’re reducing emissions with electrification education and resources. Switching to electric-powered technology helps lower harmful emissions and supports decarbonization efforts regionwide.
- How we’re optimizing our current electricity use. Showcasing customer programs designed to make current energy use more efficient.
Lighting workshop with Puget Sound Energy
On June 5, we collaborated with Puget Sound Energy for the Luminaire Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) Lunch and Learn event. This session focused on demonstrating the benefits of LLLC technology. For example, LLLC can help save energy, improve comfort in buildings, and meet energy performance standards.
Here’s what we shared with participants:
- Practical tools and case studies. Angela Pilant and Dan Kuhl, lighting experts from Evergreen Energy Partners, shared real-world examples of how LLLC technology can reduce carbon emissions and save energy.
- Updated Incentives from Seattle City Light. Armando Berdiel, Energy Program Delivery Manager, provided updates on recently increased incentives for adopting LLLC technology. He emphasized how LLLC systems can integrate with HVAC controls to optimize energy performance and City Light customer programs can reduce up-front costs for implementation.
- Hands-on experience. Our team offered participants a hands-on experience with a networked lighting control board. This interactivity helped them directly engage with the technology.
Other Energy Week events
Energy Week also included webinars, building tours, and networking sessions. These activities helped inspire new ideas and people connect and collaborate on Seattle’s 2030 energy goals.
How we are supporting a community-focused solutions
We’re here to help you save energy, reduce emissions, and build a sustainable, resilient future. Through incentives, programs, expert-led panels, and technical demonstrations, we’re working to make energy efficiency and electrification accessible and manageable for everyone. We remain committed to providing communities with the tools and support needed to embrace energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and create a cleaner, more sustainable future.
