Number Affected by Scattered Outages Reduced to 4,000

By 7 p.m. tonight, the number of Seattle City Light customers affected by wind-related power outages has been reduced to 4,000 from a noon-time peak of 18,000.

Gusty winds caused scattered outages across Seattle City Light’s service territory Christmas day. Shortly after their peak around noon, winds left more than 18, 000 customers without power. As of 7 p.m. the number of homes and businesses affected was down to approximately 4,000. Outages are both in the north and south ends of Seattle City Light’s service territory. Larger pockets of outages are found in the North City area of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Richmond Highlands, and Tukwila near Thorndyke Elementary School.

Crews are making repairs as quickly as possible.
