Crews Responding to Power Outage in Rainier Valley, Beacon Hill Area

Seattle City Light repair crews responded to a power outage affecting about 3,800 homes and businesses in the Rainier Valley and Beacon Hill area Monday afternoon.

The outage started about 3:40 p.m. The cause was not immediately known. An initial estimate for restoration of service was set for 5 p.m.

The general boundaries of the outage were S. Holly Street on the north;S. Norfolk Street on the south; Airport Way Son the west; and Lake Washington on the east.

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States.  It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.  City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
