Power Restored in SODO, Mount Baker

Seattle City Light crews restored power within an hour for about 3,500 homes and businesses affected by a power outage in the SODO neighborhood Monday afternoon.

The outage started about 3 p.m. when an underground cable failed. Crews restored service about 4 p.m. The general boundaries of the affected area were I-90 on the north, S Hanford Street on the south, 6th Avenue S on the west and Lake Washington on the east. Not all customers within those boundaries were affected.

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States.  It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.  City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
