Power Restored in the University District

Seattle City Light crews restored power this evening to University District customers after an electrical fire in an underground vault.

Seattle City Light crews restored power at approximately 8 p.m. to 1,500 University District customers affected by an outage earlier in the evening. An electrical fire in an underground vault near the University of Washington was the source of the outage which started at 6:30 p.m..

Seattle City Light is the tenth largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
