Seattle City Light has some experience with the Bailey Bridge being proposed as a short-term fix for the collapsed Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River near Mount Vernon.
In 2010, City Light crews installaed a Bailey Bridge over Babcock Creek at the Skagit Hydroelectric Project to restore an access road that had been washed out.
Bailey Bridges are made of steel trusses in small sections that are bolted together on site. They are named after the designer of the first prototype, Donald Bailey, a civil service officer in the British War Office during World War II.
