As the Seahawks prepare to face the Green Bay Packers for the NFC Championship this Sunday afternoon, Seattle City Light is taking precautions to make sure the lights at Century Link Field stay bright.
Just as the utility did last week as the Seahawks prevailed over the Carolina Panthers in the divisional round of the playoffs, City Light crews and operators are checking equipment and coordinating with stadium managers on game day plans.
Days before the start of that game, our staff inspected the CenturyLink stadium connections and switches, and worked out a protocol with stadium managers to give crews access to their facilities during an unplanned outage.
On game day, City Light put a crew on standby, and assigned operators at City Light’s Massachusetts and South substations near the stadium to provide quick response for switching the feeders serving the field.
Stadium managers had a direct line to our System Control Center to quickly report any problems. Thanks to good planning and great luck, they never had to make that call.
The same procedures are in place for this weekend’s game so we can all enjoy a Seahawks win.
Go Hawks!
