The Basics
How long have you been at City Light? I’ll hit eight years of service at City Light this March. I interned at City Light in 2013 and returned as a full-time employee in 2015.
Division: Communications
Tell us about your role: I support community outreach efforts in the Communications Division. I develop communications materials and plans for City Light’s capital improvement projects and related system work in our service territory. I also support our external communications team by maintaining our construction website and generating content for the utility’s Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts.
Background
Hometown: I was born in Maple Ridge, B.C., and moved to the states a year later. I’ve spent most of my life here in Lynnwood, Wash. Shoutout to dual citizenship!
Alma Mater: Seattle University
Area of study: B.A. in Communication Studies
Tell us about your family: My wife, Nicole, and I have been together for seven years. We have a son, Ethan, born last May, and a five-year-old Maltese dog named Chloe. I also have three siblings (one older sister and two younger brothers). My father has been working at Seattle Public Utilities for 20+ years.
Just For Fun
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend? My wife and I enjoy trying new restaurants and venturing to parks with our son and dog. We’re fortunate to live near some parks and shopping areas in the north end. Usually, you’ll find us at the Edmonds waterfront when it’s nice out, but we enjoy going into Seattle and the Eastside as well.
Who do you admire the most? I admire my wife. She’s my best friend.
The big game is on – what sport are you watching and who are you rooting for? I enjoy watching the Seahawks, Mariners and Kraken, but my true love is basketball. (If the NBA is reading this, bring our Sonics back!)
What’s the best piece of advice you have received? I don’t have a specific quote in mind, but I’ve started to focus on self-care and my mental health, especially during the pandemic. I’m constantly striving to find moments where I can unplug from work to rest and decompress.
What is something most people don’t know about you? In college, I interned at Sports Radio KJR. On my first day of work, I met Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, and KJ Wright. It was fun learning about the world of radio, and I enjoyed my experience there.
