Seattle City Light and Town & Country Markets Celebrate Sustainability

On April 5, Seattle City Light and Town & Country Markets hosted an “Earth Day, Every Day” event in Shoreline. The event celebrated sustainability and shared simple ways to live a greener life.

Visitors learned about energy conservation, eco-friendly transportation, and sustainable gardening. Hands-on tips, product samples, and demonstrations encouraged people to adopt sustainable habits. Local food vendors provided samples of earth-friendly products, making the event both fun and informative.

The event showcased our new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Shoreline Town & Country Market. Opened last fall, the station has four fast chargers, making EV charging easier and faster for everyone in the area. This station is part of our efforts to expand EV charging options and promote clean transportation.

Marina Heppenstall, Director of Sustainability at Town & Country Markets, said, “The EV fast charging stations that Seattle City Light installed at our Shoreline market have been a great benefit to the community. This event was a way to celebrate these stations and to inspire community members to incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives. We are grateful for Seattle City Light’s partnership in helping Town & Country embody our core value of stewardship.”

Our staff shared energy-saving tips, facts about our hydro facilities, and more.

Our staff connected with more than 160 attendees during the event. Visitors learned about EV charging stations, energy-saving programs, and utility bill assistance. We also shared information about our upcoming Time of Use rate and career opportunities with City Light.

We are committed to supporting a cleaner, sustainable future in Shoreline and across our service area. Events like this are an opportunity to share resources, connect with community members, and inspire sustainable practices.
