How long have you been at City Light? I just finished my third year. I was hired in December 2022, and my first day was January 18, 2023.
Tell us about your role. As a carpenter, my work involves constructing concrete vaults and structures to house and protect underground utilities, including transformers. I also help maintain substations and buildings owned by Seattle City Light.

Alma mater/Trade of study: I studied building technologies and blueprint reading at Wenatchee Valley Community College.
Tell us about your family: I have a son in his 20s who works locally in the medical industry.

What is your hidden talent or hobby? I enjoy working in the arts. I was a volunteer for six years at a nonprofit art gallery in my 20s.
What would people never guess that you do in your role? I think most people would be surprised to learn that we often assist the electrical Network crews, working on underground utilities in dark, shadowy vaults throughout the city.
What was your first job and what did you do in your role? When I was 15, my first job was a roofer’s assistant for the summer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
What is your go-to, most listened to song? My favorite music is “Spring” from “The Four Seasons” by Vivaldi.
What is something that has made you smile recently? A special visit from a mother and child at our job site. The mother had all the proper safety gear for her child, and it warmed my heart.
Least favorite food? My least favorite food is pickled fish.
The big game is on – what sport are you watching and who are you rooting for? The Seahawks! Their Super Bowl victory last month was a highlight.
What is your favorite local activity? My favorite thing to do in Seattle is hiking to the lighthouse through Discovery Park.
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received? The best compliment I have ever received is that I am kind to others.
