We’re excited to share that our new Time of Use (TOU) rate will be available to residential customers in May 2026. We know many customers are eager to explore the rate, and we appreciate your patience while we prepare for launch.
How the TOU rate works
With a TOU rate, when you use electricity matters. Electricity costs more during peak hours (from 5 to 9 PM), when demand is highest, but it will cost less during other times.
Our TOU rate has three pricing periods:
- Peak hours (most expensive): 5 to 9 PM, Monday through Saturday (excluding observed holidays).
- Mid-peak hours (moderate pricing): 6 AM to 5 PM and 9 PM to midnight, Monday through Saturday. On Sundays and holidays, mid-peak pricing lasts all day (6 AM to midnight).
- Off-peak hours (least expensive): Midnight to 6 AM, every day.
By shifting some of your electricity use to off-peak hours, you can reduce your bill. Plus, you’ll help make the power system more efficient.
New tools for managing your energy use
As we’ve been preparing to make the rate available, a big part of our work has been building new tools to support you. With the rate, we are launching an online tool called Energy Insights. This tool will help you better understand your electricity use and how the TOU rate could affect your bill. Our goal is to give you clear, simple information so you can confidently decide what works best for your household.
With this tool you’ll be able to:
- Compare the TOU rate with your current rate and sign up if you choose.
- See how your energy use changes throughout the day and week.
- Explore simple ways to shift your usage to potentially save money.
What’s next?
We’ll share more details soon, including the date in May the TOU rate will be open for enrollment.
