Power Restored in Rainier Beach, Tukwila

Seattle City Light crews are restoring power to Rainier Beach, Tukwila and unincorporated King County after a tree knocked down power lines on Beacon Coal Mine Road S.

Seattle City Light crews restored power about 6 p.m. to the last customers affected by an outage in Rainier Beach, Tukwila and unincorporated King County caused by a falling tree that knocked down power lines on Beacon Coal Mine Road S.

Damage to the tree suggests that it had been hit by a truck or some other large vehicle before it fell, causing significant damage to the power lines.

The outage initially cut power to 2,350 homes and businesses about 8:40 a.m. City Light dispatchers are rerouting power around the damage and reduced the number of customers still without service to about 25 by 11 a.m.

The general boundaries were S Bangor Street on the north, S 170th Street on the south, 76th Avenue S on the east and 42nd Avenue S on the west.
