Seattle City Light Apologizes for I-5 Delays

Seattle City Light crews working on a project to upgrade towers for transmission and distribution lines that cross Interstate 5 were late completing their work this morning.

A pulley used to pull the new lines into place locked up and a large bucket truck the crews were using sprang a leak in its hydraulic system.

That delay meant a late start for traffic control contractors in reopening I-5, which then took longer to accomplish with traffic already beginning to back up on the freeway. The total delay in reopening the interstate was about an hour.

We apologize to all commuters who were affected by the delay.
