Seattle City (spot)Light: Courtney Fuller, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist

The Basics

How long have you been at City Light? Just over four years

Division: Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development

Tell us about your role: I hire for the skilled trade positions such as lineworkers, electrician constructors, cable splicers, meter electricians, material suppliers, utility construction workers, apprentices and so much more! We hire for roles in Seattle and at our remote locations like Boundary, Skagit, Lucky Peak, and Cedar Falls. If employees are working to keep the facilities going, the dams running and the power on, then I most likely hired for their position.

Background

Hometown: Everett, Wash.

Alma Mater: University of Washington

Area of study: Art/Interior Design – believe it or not!

Tell us about your family: I am a single mom to a wonderful 10-year-old son named Caidyn.  He keeps me busy with his love of sports, mostly soccer, but he’s trying basketball right now.  We have a 5-year-old Manchester Terrier named Cooper and a 7-year-old kitty named Dora.

Just for Fun

What was your first job and what did you do?  When I was 15 as a barista at a drive-up coffee stand in Mukilteo called the Mocha-teo Café.

What do you like most about your role? Working with the candidates, our employees and the hiring managers. I truly enjoy visiting our locations to proctor written and working tests and working in person with people. I also love helping our employees improve their cover letters, resumes and interviewing skills. It’s great to watch them work hard to grow within Seattle City Light. Helping people improve on their situation and themselves is why I do what I do.

What TV show are you currently bingeing? I’m just finishing up the new season of “The Witcher” and plan to switch over to “Boba Fett,” I think.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend? Weekends usually involve one of my son’s soccer or basketball games, running errands and meal prepping for the week. If I’m lucky, I’ll get to do some of that binge watching, reading a book or hitting the gym.

Who do you admire the most? My dad. He’s such a loving and caring person who works hard and gives so much of himself to those he can. Growing up he was always so patient and instilled in me the importance of family and traditions and working to be the best version of myself. He’s the kind of person and parent I strive to be.
