How long have you been at City Light? I started in February of 2022. 

Division: Safety, Health & Wellness 

Tell us about your role. What does your job entail? Ensuring the safety of City Light staff, visitors, and contractors at the Skagit Hydroelectric Project through training, proper safety programs, incident review, and audits of work being performed.

Discipline/Trade of study: Safety specialist 

Tell us about your family: I have been married to my beautiful wife, Becky, for 15 years. We have three kids who are all grown and out of the house: Anna, Joseph, and Melissa. We currently have two dogs, Finn and Charlie, and two cats, Bree and Moose. We live in Mount Vernon.

What is the most rewarding part of your work at the utility? When I see people understand and buy into the safety training and practices that I promote. It means that they will likely go home safe at the end of the day! 

What was the last song you listened to? “Back in Black” by  AC/DC 

What obstacles have you overcome in your career? Convincing the management of various organizations (other than City Light) that I am qualified for the job, despite not having a degree, and informing workers that I know how safety impacts their work. 

What is something most people don’t know about you? Not much, I am pretty much an open book! 

What is your idea of a perfect day? A backpacking trip in the mountains on a summer day, ending with time around a campfire with friends.
