The Basics
How long have you been at City Light? I started on Thanksgiving 2022, and I added my career to the list of things I was thankful for that year.
Division: Fleets
Tell us about your role: I monitor the Automated Motor Pool (AMP) Car online reservation system that allows employees to reserve vehicles at our service centers and hydroelectric projects. I help employees troubleshoot the system. Additionally, I support our crews with fleet-related needs, including jump-starting vehicles, scheduling maintenance, shuttling, and much more. I do like helping people, so if you have vehicle needs, I’m your guy.
Background
Hometown: Kingston, Wash.
Alma mater: Kingston High School, Edmonds Community College
Discipline/Trade of study: Mechanical engineering, just never finished.
Tell us about your family/pets: My family is pretty special to me. I grew up helping the family construct and remodel houses, as well as hosting cookouts and music circles. I’m always keeping busy and having fun. My dad worked for the Washington State Ferries and my mother is a kindergarten teacher.
Just for fun
If you could have any job for only one day, what would it be and why?
I would love to be a racecar driver for the day. Only for one day, so I wouldn’t have to deal with any backlash or stress from not winning, but I’d still get to drive some awesome cars.
What’s something that has made you smile recently?
Recently, I’ve been introduced to skiing and have been loving every minute of it – even though I’m not that great. “When is the next time I’m going to hit the slope?” is on loop in my head; it’s all I’ve been thinking about recently.
What’s one thing that has surprised you about working at City Light?
Just how kind and helpful everyone is. You don’t get that type of generosity everywhere.
What was the last song you listened to?
“Beautiful Day” by U2. I listen to it almost every day and it still gets me ready for anything.
What can you talk about for hours?
Cars. I love going to car shows and finding hidden details the owners put on their cars. Noticing the smallest details and asking the owner about it always gets them to open up. If you tell me you’re looking to buy a car, well, be prepared to discuss what you need in a car, which cars you prefer, and then I’ll give some recommendations and explain why you should consider said car over the other. If you ask me about my own car, you better buckle up….
