Seattle City (spot)Light: Thanh-Huyen Ho, Account Tech

The Basics

How long have you been at City Light? Since July 2001

Division: Customer Operations

Tell us about your role: I am an account technician in the Account Validation group within Customer Operations. My job involves taking care of the key customer accounts and making sure everything is right before sending bills to customers. I also handle billing issues that customers report, spending time to review, research, and analyze before providing the right answers for bill corrections. Currently, I am working on the accounts that have reversed meters, which happen when meters are swapped between two customers. This is a new role that requires a lot of attention, details, and time. I can say I am challenged, but I enjoy it and love learning a new role.

Background

Hometown: Nha Trang, Vietnam

Alma mater: Tacoma Community College

Discipline/Trade of study: Associate degree in accounting

Tell us about your family/pets: I am married with one daughter, one son, and one dog. I also have nine siblings.

Just for fun

If you could live in any time period, past, present, or future, when would it be? I prefer to live in the present.

What advice do you have for those who are new to City Light? There are a lot of opportunities. In almost 24 years of working with the City of Seattle, I’ve seen so many chances for employees to grow who work for the City. I saw my co-worker move up to a better career with higher pay.

What is your favorite local restaurant? Pho Bac

What’s something that has made you smile recently? Playing with my dog, Boba.

What can you talk about for hours? Food. Almost every Friday, I get together with a group of friends, all women, for a potluck. Each of us will bring one dish, and we share. We love to cook, eat, talk, and enjoy food together. My specialties are pho, egg rolls, and spring rolls.
