Seattle City Light is building a new electrical substation in North Downtown to keep pace with Seattle’s growing power needs. The Denny Substation Project team has updated its early substation design, and will be holding an open house to share its latest work and gather public comments. This public open house is part of City Light’s ongoing work with the community and City Light ratepayers to design a substation that meets the utility’s mission and also reflects the neighborhood’s character.
The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2013 at the following location:
Seattle BioMed
Discovery Rooms
307 Westlake Ave. N
Seattle, WA 98109
A presentation of the design concepts and art that will be integrated into the substation’s design will be held at 5:30 p.m.
About the Denny Substation Project
The new substation will help City Light serve customers in the South Lake Union, Cascade, Denny Triangle, Uptown, Belltown and First Hill neighborhoods, as well as other customers throughout City Light’s service area. Located near Denny Way and Stewart Street, the substation will ensure reliable power for some of the city’s fastest growing areas and customers throughout City Light’s service area.

About Seattle City Light
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest customer rates of any urban utility – providing reliable, renewable and environmentally-responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light is the Nation’s Greenest Utility and has been carbon neutral since 2005; the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
