Seattle City (spot)Light: Jason Saisslin, Electric Service Representative

The Basics

Division: Customer Engineering

How long have you been at City Light? A little over a year. I started March 2023.

Tell us about your role: It involves a little bit of everything. ESR’s are project managers. We are the people listening to residential customer requests for electrical changes and upgrades to their projects or homes. We relay information to the customers projects by asking the right questions to the right people. This involves explaining project needs to crews and engineers while keeping customers informed about standards and things that can help move their project along. There are a lot of “I haven’t seen that before” moments, which allow for creativity and relying on other team members’ experience to help guide a project.

Background

Hometown: West Seattle, Wash.

Alma mater: Western Governors University

Discipline/Trade of study: Educational studies/teaching/coaching

Tell us about your family/pets: Married to my wife, Laura, for almost 10 years. We have two daughters, Hazel, 8, and Madalee, 3.

just for fun

What do you like most about your role? Every day is a different adventure, a different project. The work is constant, so I am never bored or lack things to do. I like to watch the projects progress and see them become completed. It’s impressive to witness a project start with an empty lot without power or utilities and see what it becomes. I like to see how my contributions fit into how the project was completed.

What is your favorite movie genre and/or all-time favorite movie? I enjoy baseball movies, comedy, and action movies. My favorite movie all-time is “Major League.”

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done recently? Our family of four recently took a trip to Maui, along with my sister, the four others in her family, and my mom.

What’s a place you’ve always wanted to visit, but haven’t had the chance to yet? Disney World.

What’s your favorite way to spend a rainy day? Watching a baseball game at Safeco Field (T-Mobile Park). Most rainy days are spent watching Disney+ with the kids.
