Seattle City (spot)Light: Lynelle Ehart, Administrative Staff Assistant

The Basics

How long have you been at City Light? September 2023

Division: Environmental, Engineering and Project Delivery

Tell us about your role. I assist the members of my business unit with travel, expenses, payments, orders, documents, and required governmental filings, to name a few. My job is different from day to day, and I never know what to expect when I sign on each morning.

Background

Hometown: Bremerton, Wash.

Alma mater: Central Washington University (Go Wildcats!)

Discipline/Trade of study: Administrative management with a minor in communications

Tell us about your family/pets: I am married, and we have a 16-year-old daughter, Rachel, who is the apple of my eye. Growing up, my favorite pet was our cat, Midnight. He was so excited to see me after one of our family vacations (I was 7 at the time) that he launched himself off the railing at the top of the stairs and landed on my back with all claws out. I still have the scars to prove it.

Just for fun

What is your all-time favorite movie?  My all-time favorite movie is “Titanic.” I own it on DVD and have watched it over 500 times. I introduced it to my daughter when she was very young, and now we can recite lines together. There’s something very comforting about knowing a movie so well.

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done recently? In 2023, I took a cruise to Alaska with my dad, daughter, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. We had the best time! Alaska is beautiful, and cruising is a great way to appreciate the beauty—you get to see it from the water and on land during excursions. We had so much fun experiencing all of this together. The trip definitely brought us closer.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what band or music would you want on replay?  I would choose ‘80s Michael Jackson or even ‘70s disco. Both are so fun!

What has helped you get to where you are and what advice do you have for others who want to set off in a similar career direction? I had a great education and have had varied and interesting work experiences. I pay attention to details. In fact, my nickname at a former employer was Triple E, which stood for Eagle Eye Ehart. I believe personality plays a big role in being a great assistant. I am caring and also have a great sense of humor, which has helped me get through some challenging days in my career. I would like to thank my fellow admins as we all work together to get the job done!

What is your hidden talent or hobby? I learned calligraphy when I was 13 and became good at it. I am also a pretty decent writer, if I do say so myself. 😊
