While the Pacific Northwest is experiencing cold temperatures and mountains are covered with snow, unusually warm conditions in other parts of the country are holding down prices on the surplus electricity Seattle City Light sells to other utilities.
In recognition of community ownership, Seattle City Light is joining with more than 2,000 other public electric utilities to celebrate Public Power Week Oct. 7-13.
Seattle City Light is one of 12 utilities working with the Bonneville Power Administration to give consumers a chance to compare light-emitting diode (LED) technology to traditional lighting in real-life settings, such as a coffee shop, a retail store and even a popular whale museum.
Seattle City Light, Bonneville Power Administration and Pend Oreille PUD announced today that they have completed a key step for re-establishing a transmission line that will increase BPA’s transmission reliability in northeastern Washington and lower costs for the two utilities.
