South Washington Street Infrastructure Improvement

Seattle City Light is asking travelers to prepare for five weeks of lane closures on Denny Way between Stewart St and Minor Ave N beginning Friday, Oct. 14. During this time, crews will be installing underground utilities for the Denny Substation.

Roadway Restoration Work Begins on Stewart Street August 3

Beginning Monday, August 1, the contractor for Seattle City Light’s Denny Network Project (part of the Denny Substation Program) will begin final restoration work along Stewart Street between Minor Avenue and 6th Avenue. This work will affect commuters entering the city, particularly at the Stewart Street exit from southbound I-5.

Streetlight Inspection Will Cause Rolling Slowdown on Ballard Bridge

Seattle City Light plans to inspect streetlights on the Ballard Bridge following the Seattle Department of Transportation’s seismic upgrades. The inspection is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17 starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. Single northbound and southbound lane closures on the bridge will be necessary. Motorists should expect rolling slowdowns in the direction of the affected lane. Only one lane at a time will be closed.

City Light System Reliability Work Will Impact Traffic on Highway 99

City Light will be enhancing electrical system reliability by upgrading the communication link between two south end substations and the utility’s system control center. The work requires pulling fiber optic communications cable across State Route 99 (SR 99) near Boeing Field (see the map with construction zone on the back side). The work is being done in coordination with Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and City Light’s H-Frame/Feeder installation project currently underway in the same area.

Construction Accident Near Denny Way and Pontius Avenue North Causes Road Closure

At 11:30 a.m. today, a construction contractor driving a backhoe at a Seattle City Light work site near Denny Way and Pontius Avenue North, snagged an overhead power line, bringing it down and breaking four poles. No one was injured.
