Electrical Reliability Work to Begin on NE Pacific Street This Month

Starting in mid-September, Seattle City Light will begin a new civil construction project  in the University District area. Crews will excavate and install underground electrical conduit along NE Pacific Street (between Montlake Boulevard NE and 15th Avenue NE). The work will increase electrical reliability for the area and support Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail expansion project.

Seattle City Light crews restored power this evening to University District customers after an electrical fire in an underground vault.

Power Outage in University District

Power is out to approximately 1,500 customers in the University District. There is an early report of smoke and an explosion at a vault near 15th Avenue NE and NE Pacific Street.

Seattle City Light crews restored power by about 5 p.m. to all 13,400 homes and businesses affected by a power outage in the U-District, Eastlake, Fremont, Wallingford, Ravenna and GreenLake.

Seattle City Light repair crews restored power Wednesday morning to the final 245 customers affected by the failure of splices on two underground, main stem power lines near University Bridge.

City Light crews are investigating an outage affecting 2,035 customers in the Ravenna/University District/Laurelhurst area. The cause of the outage is not known at this time. Failed Switch Caused Outage in Ravenna, Wedgwood, View Ridge, U District

A failed switch was the cause of a power outage that affected about 3,600 customers in the Ravenna, Wedgwood, View Ridge and University District neighborhoods, including the University of Washington.

About 3,600 customers in Ravenna, Wedgwood, View Ridge and the University District, including part of the University of Washington campus, lost power about 8:15 p.m. today. Crews isolated the outage to about 200 customers within 30 minutes. Full restoration is estimated for midnight.
