City Light Completes Cable Injection in Lake Forest Park

Earlier this fall, Seattle City Light completed its silicone cable injection work in Lake Forest Park. The project began in September 2016 to enhance the reliability and extend the life of aging underground electrical cables in parts of Lake Forest Park by injecting them with silicone.

Seattle City Light crews recently completed civil construction work on Minor Avenue, located in the Capitol and First Hill neighborhoods. The infrastructure upgrades will allow for increased electrical reliability in the area.

6th & Cherry Duct Bank Project Begins in September

In early September 2016, Seattle City Light plans to install a new conduit (duct bank) between the existing electrical vaults on 6th Avenue and Cherry Street. Crews plan to excavate on the west side of 6th Avenue into the south side of Cherry Street. The new duct bank will be installed and the street restored. This project will allow us to provide new electrical connections in the area.

City Light Plans Work to Increase Reliability on Summit Avenue East

Seattle City Light is working to increase the reliability of the electrical system in the Capitol Hill neighborhood by installing new conduit (duct bank) and electrical vaults along Summit Avenue East and East John Street. The work will be completed in three stages.

City Light to Upgrade Electrical Cable in Lake Forest Park

Seattle City Light will be upgrading the aging electrical cable in parts of Lake Forest Park to help improve the electrical reliability in the area. City Light’s contractor, Novinium, will test and where possible, inject underground cables with silicone to fill cracks in the cable insulation to prevent outages. If cables are not suited for injection, they will be replaced at a later time.

City Light to Replace Newhalem Penstock Saddles

Seattle City Light will be replacing 52 deteriorating, wooden saddles that support the Newhalem Penstock with new, cast-in-place concrete saddles. These new saddles will provide structural stability and protect the integrity of the penstock.

City Light to Upgrade Electronic Equipment on Utility Poles in Green Lake

Starting in late June 2016, Seattle City Light will be supporting enhanced cellular and data services in the Green Lake area by upgrading electronic equipment to utility poles throughout the public right-of-way of the neighborhood.

City of Seattle brings Utility Discount to 10,000 more households

Today Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) Director Andrew Lofton announced proposed changes to the Utility Discount Program (UDP) to auto-enroll more than 10,000 low-income Seattle Housing Authority households. Today’s announcement puts the City on track to surpass the Mayor’s goal to double program enrollment two years ahead of schedule.
