City Light to Replace Aging Infrastructure in SODO Neighborhood

Starting in June 2017, Seattle City Light will replace aging electrical infrastructure in the SODO neighborhood. The work will include replacing aging utility poles, overhead wire and equipment to help upgrade the existing electrical system.

Seattle City Light to Repair Streetlights in First Hill

Starting in mid-to-late May 2017, Seattle City Light will be working to improve pedestrian safety in the First Hill neighborhood by temporarily repairing 18 failed streetlights on Madison Street, spanning from Minor to Terry avenues. Crews will connect overhead cables from Terry Avenue and Madison Street towards Boren and 9th avenues to restore power to the failed streetlights.

City Light Relocating Transmission Lines Beneath Alaskan Way Viaduct

Transmission lines that power downtown Seattle have been attached to the Alaskan Way Viaduct since it was constructed in 1953. Seattle City Light has been working to complete the full relocation of these transmission lines to a permanent location underground.

Temporary Fairview Bridge Pole and Wire Relocation Completed

Seattle City Light has successfully completed a temporary pole and wire relocation alongside Fairview Bridge.

Utility Pole Replacements Scheduled in Beacon Hill

Later this month, Seattle City Light will continue replacing aging utility poles in parts of the utility’s service territory to improve and upgrade electrical reliability for customers. City Light’s contractor, Magnum Power LLC, will be installing new utility poles, relocating wires and replacing aging equipment in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Electronic Equipment Upgrades Planned in Highline and White Center

Starting in early to mid-April 2017, Seattle City Light will be supporting enhanced cellular and data services in the Highline and White Center areas by upgrading electronic equipment to 35 utility poles throughout the public right-of-way of these neighborhoods.

City Light Continues Utility Pole Upgrades for Advanced Metering

From late March and April 2017, Seattle City Light will continue supporting Advanced Metering services throughout the utility’s service territory by replacing existing utility poles with taller poles, which will host wireless utility data collection equipment.
