Enhanced Cellular/Data Upgrades Planned in Fall 2018

Seattle City Light is supporting enhanced cellular and data services in various Seattle neighborhoods by attaching low-power omni-directional antennas and equipment cabinets to existing utility poles within the public right-of-way.

Electrical Reliability Work to Begin on NE Pacific Street This Month

Starting in mid-September, Seattle City Light will begin a new civil construction project  in the University District area. Crews will excavate and install underground electrical conduit along NE Pacific Street (between Montlake Boulevard NE and 15th Avenue NE). The work will increase electrical reliability for the area and support Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail expansion project.

Crews Complete Upgrade in Mt. Baker in Support of East Link Extension

City Light crews recently finished work to provide power to Sound Transit’s planned traction power substation. The substation will help electrify light rail to the Eastside.

Crews Complete Duct Bank Installation on 1st Avenue South

Seattle City Light crews recently installed an electrical duct bank on 1st Avenue South, between South Royal Brougham Way and Railroad Way South. 

Electrical Improvements Planned in Yesler Terrace

Starting this June, Seattle City Light crews will be working to improve electrical reliability in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood by installing new utility poles, overhead wire and equipment. This work is needed to replace aging electrical infrastructure and upgrade the existing electrical system.

Arroyo/South Arbor Heights Conduit Installation Project Begins This May

Starting in May 2018, Seattle City Light will be working in the Arroyo/South Arbor Heights area to install new electrical conduits, vaults and streetlights. This work is needed to replace aging underground, direct buried cables in the neighborhood.

Arroyo Open House Scheduled for Wednesday, April 25

Seattle City Light is hosting an open house on Wednesday, April 25 to inform customers about an upcoming conduit installation project in the Arroyo/South Arbor Heights area. Customers are invited to stop by the Seattle Public Library’s Southwest Branch between 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn more.

Magnolia Streetlight Project Begins in April

Starting in mid-April 2018, Seattle City Light will be partnering with Crown Castle to pilot a project that will support enhanced cellular and data services in the Magnolia area. The project includes the installation of two streetlight poles with LED fixtures near Constance Drive West and West Parkmont Place. One of the poles will be configured with non-functional cellular antenna equipment.
